For the third time in 2 years ArabNet set out to find and promote some of the region’s most promising would-be entrepreneurs and startups with the Ideathon and Startup Demo competitions. The number of applications we received this time amazed and delighted us once again with 150 ideas and 70 startups, bearing testimony to the flourishing web entrepreneurship scene in the region.

While we celebrate each individual effort, the selection boiled down to 10 ideas and 10 startups as per the rules of the competitions. We also chose 5 runner ups as an honorable mention for great potential. Runners up will have the chance to pitch if any of the finalists does not confirm their participation.

So without further ado, here are the finalists and runner ups for the Ideathon and Startup Demo competitions.

The 10 finalists for the Ideathon competitions (in alphabetical order) are:

The 10 finalist will have 2 minutes in the spotlight to showcase their idea.
The top 3 pitches will be awarded cash prizes as a seed grant.

The selected startups will have 5 minutes on stage to showcase their products.
The startups will also have an exhibition space where they can network with investors and media.
