
Since we last talked about the rising Iranian startup scene a few months back, the country’s first cycle of aspiring entrepreneurs have seen their startups accelerated by Iran’s new accelerator, Avatech.
A second cycle will be announced soon, so stay tuned for more details.
For now, here are the first 10 digital startups accelerated in Iran.
Navaar
Listening to audio books on tapes was a pretty convenient solution for people with busy schedules. Navaar offers a modern substitute in the form of audio files. The web platform offers books from top publishers (for both adults and kids) in an easy-to-navigate catalog. Users can choose titles from the library and enjoy a seamless experience on their mobile devices, or on the web. They can also create their own personal library to get instant access to their favorite pickings.
Webyad
Webyad is a learning network open to both teachers and learners. Students can enjoy open access to different learning materials (for free or for a low cost). At the other end of the equation, teachers can build their personal brands and create content, which gives them the possibility to earn income in the process. The network allows for interaction between students and teachers to enrich the learning experience.
2nate
2nate (pronounced “donate” in Farsi) is a crowdfunding platform that promotes projects and causes of public interest, and seeks donations to make them come to life. Backers feel like they have made a difference and also receive perks for participating. 2nate charges a commission that varies from 1% to 10%.
CafeTunes
CafeTunes is a web and mobile app that lets you take control of the music being played around you. Places that use this service allow customers and visitors to view their playlists and choose the music they want to hear. On one hand, customers can decide where to go based on a place’s music selection. On the other hand, when customers change the music, CafeTunes helps owners get a better idea of which music is more agreeable to customers, and thus improve their selection. In turn, this will attract customers who like that music.
Akhbar Rasmi
Akhbar Rasmi is the first online news release service in Iran. The platform gives companies instant access to disseminate their news through thousands of journalists and media outlets. It guarantees coverage and publication of the news in major media outlets, and promises effective PR and visibility.
Honari.com
Honari.com is an online platform that teaches handcrafting and sells raw materials, patterns and designs to hobbyists. The platform also has a marketplace for artists to sell their final products.
Reyhoon
Reyhoon is currently the most popular online food ordering service in Iran. The website has a minimalist feel, even though it is rich in information. It displays user ratings for different meals with clear pictures, contact information and reviews, in an intuitive user interface. Reyhoon was previously known as IrFood when it first launched back in October 2011.
Lendem
Lendem is a mobile-based social network made to facilitate sharing and lending items among friends. Users who know each other can share books, movies, games, TV series, camera accessories, or whatever else they desire.
KSNA
KSNA is the only online platform and marketplace for video tutorials in Farsi. The tutorials are available at affordable prices and are designed by qualified teachers. The platform encourages a centralized approach to tutorial design and publication by giving instructors, mentors and coaches the production know-how and marketing tools to help them create quality videos.
Taskulu
Taskulu is a role-based project management platform for companies, that gives project managers the ability to assign users specific roles and permissions according to what they need to know and work on. Taskulu also includes time-tracking for tasks and real-time communication tools to closely monitor all aspects of any given project.
