Don’t Miss the Hyundai Startup Competition and Workshops!

Have you applied to the Hyundai Startup competition yet?

If you have an innovative idea or product, this is your chance to win one of 3 cash prizes worth $15,000, $10,000, and $5,000 respectively.

Not only that, but the 20 finalists will be enrolled in a unique training and mentorship program to help them make their idea market- and investment-ready.

The program consists of 6 sessions run by key players in the entrepreneurship and corporate community:

1.   One-On-One Consultation

October 22 from 5:00 pm. to 8:00 pm.

This workshop is divided into two sessions of 90 minutes each.

The first session extends from 5:00 pm. to 6:30 pm

Run by Hassan Slaibi (CEO) and Bassam Jalgha (CTO) of Brand Industries, and Abdallah Yafi, Managing Partner of Y Venture Partners and Division One Fund.

The second session from 6:30 pm. to 8:00 pm

Run by Omar Christidis, Founder and CEO of ArabNet, and Gheith Yafi, Managing Partner of Y Venture Partners and Division One Fund.

Both sessions will enable entrepreneurs to sit with industry leaders and raise in-depth discussion about how to enhance their startup.

2.   Product Design in 2 Hours

October 27 from 6:00 pm. to 8:00 pm.

Run by George Khabbaz, Chief Digital Officer of Dress Code Converse.

The participants will learn and apply processes to create a product or service, starting from the idea to reach a minimum viable concept in just 2 hours.

Startups and SMEs can benefit from Lean and Rapid UX that accelerates the process of concretizing an idea, and render it a tangible brand that solves the user's problems.

3.   App Monetization

November 2 from 6:00 pm. to 8:00 pm.

Run by Eddy Maroun, Co-founder of Anghami

The two-hour long discussion will highlight the various models, opportunities, challenges and stages throughout the funnel- starting with user acquisition, to engagement leading to monetization.

4.   Accounting for Startups - From Infancy and Beyond

November 7 from 6:00 pm. to 8:00 pm.

Run by Badr al-Hassan, Audit principal of Deloitte in Middle East and US

Since the role of accounting and finance is considered an important prerequisite for nascent startups to allow them to look forward and critical for long term success.

5-    How Could a Startup Become Investment-Ready?

November 9 from 6:00 pm. to 8:00 pm.

Run by Walid Mansour, Managing Partner of on Middle East Venture Partners (MEVP)

This segment will highlight the criteria that investors usually examine when analyzing a startup. Also, the participants will gain an exclusive insider look on MEVP’s internal startup assessment process.

6.   Pitch for the Win: Practical Public Speaking Tips

November 13 from 6:00 pm. to 8:00 pm.

Run by Rabih al-Khodr, founder of Standup Communication Training.

This session focuses on polishing your communication skills to better introduce your startup, prepare your visual material, and rehearse your Q&A performance for a chance to win the pitching competition.
