"If you’re a newsmaker preparing a report on the  recent increase in inflation rates, we have front  building clips of the Egyptian Central Bank. If you’re a filmmaker and need an aerial shot of 6th of October Bridge, “there is a clip for that.” - Hashem Sabry, CEO of meastock.

meastock.com is an online media brokerage website that gathers first-rate video content focused on the Middle East and promotes it to buyers all over the world.

Based out of Cairo, Egypt, meastock.com will develop relationships with production companies, photographers, video bloggers, students, freelancers and other amateur and professional regional talent, and as a result, offer videos of the Middle East ranging from the timely and newsworthy to the everyday coverage of individual lives and events.

The incentive to contribute is driven by a straightforward revenue sharing model. Uploaders earn a 35% commission of all sales their media generates. Additionally, meastock.com’s online Referral Program encourages members to recommend the site to potential contributors. In turn, the referee will earn a commission of 10% on all sales of the account citing their referral.

“I recognized that there are no fully automated online stock footage websites in the region. I liked the idea and recognized that this could potentially be an unserved market,” explains Hashem. “Then came the Arab Spring. There are 15,000 other global news channels like News Channel 4 of Oklahoma for example that have a feature story, wrote the script, but don’t have supporting footage – otherwise referred to as “B-rolls.” This is the essence of meastock.com and we  think the timing could not be better.”

meastock currently possesses a library of 3,200 fully sub-licensed HD clips, with additional clips being added every week. Footage is categorized and curated by meastock to make it easy for media buyers to locate, preview,  and if interested download  purchase clips.

The service currently includes footage from Egypt, but more countries will follow. “We want to make sure that we give each country the time and effort it merits to dig up valuable footage and organically expand our network of videographers in  the region. We have accordingly decided to tackle this one country at a time as we set up office in each new market," he concluded.
