During the ArabNet Digital Summit, we sat with Loulou Khazen Baz, founder of Nabbesh.com, and talked about how this virtual skills marketplace has gained tremendous traction and success through crowdfunding. Of course, the publicity Nabbesh.com gained from winning at The Entrepreneur, the popular TV reality show aired in Dubai, also contributed to the platform’s recent successes.
Loulou exclaims that Nabbesh.com requires a different mindset than the traditional recruitment websites. “It is more informal; it is more social,” says Loulou. The unique edge of Nabbesh.com greatly appealed to users in the MENA region, and this is one of the main reasons why Nabbesh.com was able to be fully funded through Eureeca.
Since its launch, Nabbesh.com has reached over 17000 registered members and receives 200-350 job posts per month; 15% of these vacant positions are filled through the platform.
During the interview, Loulou describes the peer-to-peer payment model that Nabbesh.com has adopted at the beginning of the summer season to achieve monetization.
