Little Alchemy is an education game available on pretty much everything: as a Chrome app, as an Android and iOS app, or on desktop - either using Pokki for Windows XP and 7, or straight on Windows 8.1.

The concept is extremely simple, yet highly entertaining and addictive. At the start of the game, you are presented with four elements in your library - on the right hand side of the screen - water, wind, earth, and fire. Your job is to Mix the elements by dragging them on top of each other on the left hand side to create new ones. mixing water and earth will give you mud for example. Water and fire will create steam. Simple enough. But about mud and water? That’s brick. Steam and earth? a geyser. And so on…

With four initial elements to start with, you would think that you’d done with this game sooner than later, but you are mistaken. There are around 450 that you can conjure up in total, depending on which platform you are playing on. It gets exponentially more complicated, and intriguing in the long run.

The Chrome and Android versions contain 420 possible combinations. The Pokki version contains additional ‘candy’ combos which brings the total to 450. So if you’ve aced either of the browser or mobile version you know where to go to get an additional fix. The other versions, Windows 8, iPhone and iPad, have around 300+ total elements. The number increases over time with updates, and is bound to catch up with the others i suppose.

There are some pretty odd elements available as well. So it is a possibility you might end up with Darth Vader, Batman, Yoda, or a unicorn. If you come across anything crazy like that, be sure to share the formula in the comments below. Hint: you could mix an element with itself. Water and water for example will give you Sea.

You can right click on an element to check, or remember how it was made. You can also login with your Google account to save your progress and be able to access it again later. Login in will also enable you to continue playing from a different machine.

If you’re out of ideas or feel that you are at a dead end, don’t despair. The developer behind the game has thought this through enough to include a help page, very bluntly entitled ‘Little Alchemy Official Cheats’, where you can hit a random element generator. The generator will show you possible elements and the combinations required to make them. You could however opt to hide the combinations and be satisfied with the element as inspiration and try and figure out the mix yourself.

A more shameful path to follow would be any of several guides available on the web. You can find those with a quick google search for ‘little alchemy’. Here’s is a good one that we found that contains all 450 elements.
