Campus society, the online student hub that went viral among Lebanese universities exactly a year ago, is expanding to MENA after reaching a satisfactory 30K subscribers from all of Lebanon’s 15 universities. “The new wall is getting amazing feedback,” cofounder Rashid Ajami told Arabnet. “We aim to reach 200k users in the next 3 months across [MENA]”

The startup, which launched in March 2014 with the simple goal of making student life easier in the American University of Beirut, quickly went viral in the Lebanese academic community and captured the attention of investors. It has raised £700k to date, and is preparing for a Series A round in the next three months. It already lists every university across MENA so that it can be accessible to all students.

The cofounders will be marketing their website  to Dubai and Oman as of this week due to a high demand for the set of services offered to make campus life easier. “We have received around 300 requests from universities across MENA,” said Ajami, “We want to cater to these campuses one region at a  time.”

In parallel to this expansion, the company will also launch their Campus Society App this coming March, complete with the notifications and smooth user interface. “We believe the app will be used for quick social interactions, whereas the site could be [more suitable] to search jobs.” The app was developed by Campus Society’s team of developers with a very modest investment. It will be available in iOS and Android version.
