In the summer of 2011, Timeline, a new profile format created by Facebook was introduced to the social network. The feature’s purpose according to Zuckerberg was to tell the story of your life and express yourself in a completely new way. The format had been voluntary, but as of late, users are being notified of their transition to the new layout with a week trial period before the switch becomes permanent, which means users have 7 days to delete posts before it’s too late.

While Timeline won't expose anything that wasn't on your Facebook page already, it might bring to the forefront items that were previously buried. For those who haven't experienced it yet, here's a quick overview

Other features that come along with timeline are  My CoverYour Apps, andYour Story.

- My Cover features a big open space for a picture that defines you. It adds a nice touch to your timeline.

- Your Apps is a social app that let you express yourself trough topics and music that you like. Apps such as Yahoo News, The Guardian, iHeart Radio, Mog, Songza, and many more are available for users to add on their Facebook timeline. Tell the story of your life from beginning to end with Your Story where you can share and highlight the most important photos, posts, and events of your life.

In an informal survey conducted by computer security firm Sophos, more than half, or 51.29% of the respondents, said that they are worried over Timeline. In contrast, only 7.96% said that they liked it, while 8.39% said they’ll get used to it.
