The Director of Operations is responsible for planning, assigning and managing workflow within the company, and ensuring the on-time implementation of activities and milestones.  The Director is also responsible for building and implementing the systems, processes, documentation, and corporate culture to ensure high efficiency / productivity and facilitate growth.  This is a unique opportunity to have hands-on experience in managing major projects at a rapidly growing company, and being a part of building the systems required for growth.

This is a senior management role and reports directly to the CEO, and manages full-time IT Manager / Webmaster, Logistics Manager, Accountant, HR Manager and Admin.

Job description

  • Manage the planning of projects, resulting in the creation of detailed work plans which identify and sequence the activities needed to successfully complete each project
  • Assign tasks, milestones, responsibilities, deadlines across projects and departments
  • Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities
  • Review the project schedule with senior management and all other staff that will be affected by the project activities; revise the schedule as required
  • Create new systems / processes / procedures / documentation (reports) to facilitate and ease workflow within and between departments
  • Build team spirit and corporate culture by developing and implementing policies and procedures, corporate activities and outings; encouraging behaviors in line with corporate culture, and discouraging / chastising inappropriate behavior
  • Anticipate and resolve staff issues including any disagreements between individuals or departments; manage staff on-time attendance, vacations, sick days, etc
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Operations Department, including IT / web development; logistics; finance / accounting / budgeting, admin, and HR
  • Performing any other duties and responsibilities as needed.
