Banking Innovation and Digitization in Lebanon

Even in more developed markets (US, EU, Australia) more than 50% of banks do not provide fully digitized services, according to Avoka’s “State of Digital Sales in Banking Report”. Banking leaders acknowledge that the future is mobile and that the role of the branch, powered by sensors and beacons, is changing from a core enabler of banking services to a smart consultation and financial center. This digitization is also improving banking data and allowing them to personalize and optimize their customer service through bots, new products and better sales targeting. Banks have also become more involved in the startup space and are also looking to invest or collaborate with existing fintech startups. This panel explores the innovation strategies that Lebanese banks are pursuing including investment in new technologies and fintech startups to enhance online and offline experiences and transform the banking landscape. It will also dive into some of the challenges these banks are facing in the Lebanese market.
