Panel: Fintech New trends and Innovation

According to KPMG’s Pulse of Fintech, global fintech funding reached $111.8B across 2,196 deals end of 2018. Based on research from ArabNet Insights, fintech startups are also booming in the region, with more than 20 fintechs launched in 2017 alone, and $250M invested in fintech startup. Globally, FinTech unicorns are providing a variety of services from payment (Stripe) to peer-to-peer lending (Prosper), and from transfers / remittances (Transferwise) to SME financing (Kabbage). Meanwhile, challenger banks have seen top growth across the globe (Monzo, N26, Revoult). At the same time, Insurtechs are maturing rapidly, attracting larger funding rounds; on a global level, there were 13 insurtech deals over $100 million during 2018, including a $375 million raised by Oscar Health Insurance in the US and $200 million raised by PolicyBazaar in India. This panel hosts leaders in financial services and FinTech to discuss the global and regional trends that are reshaping the sector; it will also delve into the strategies that financial institutions should pursue to keep up with the disruption and capture emerging opportunities, while exploring the emerging trends in the Insurtech industry.
