Voting Now Open for ArabNet Riyadh People's Choice Award: Startup Demo

After the Ideathon, 10 entrepreneurs have finished presenting their startups to the judges and audience. Based on the judges scoring, the winner, along with the 1st and 2nd runner-up, will be announced tomorrow during the closing ceremony. In the meantime you can share your opinion and vote for your favorite startup and help it win the popular vote.

Apple Wins Patent Dispute. But Was It Fair? [Poll]

2 days ago, United States District Judge Lucy Koh refuted the motion filed by Samsung to stay the ban on US sales of Galaxy Nexus after an injunction was decreed last week.

Back in February, Apple sought to ban the sale of the Galaxy Nexus on the claim that the phone was infringing on 4 Apple patented technologies. Last Friday, Apple was able to obtain an injunction based on US patent number 8,086,604 which covers searching multiple areas for information using a single search interface, including both voice (Siri) and unified text search. Following the injunction, Samsung filed a motion to stay the ban, but Judge Lucy Koh denied their request 2 days ago on June 3rd.

In response, Google and Samsung have already announced a patch that would limit the results of the quick search bar on the home screen to just web results, and hence circumvent the court’s decision.
