Lebanon to Roll Out Parking Mobile Payment Service "Smart Park"

By Wael Nabbout | May 3, 2012 | Section: Announcements |

Lebanese residents will soon be able to pay their parking meter fees using their mobile phones. Local mobile network Alfa and mobile solutions provider Viamobile have recently tested a new service that would enable local residents to pay their parking meters by sending an SMS to an assigned short code.

Neither Alfa nor Viamobile have released any additional information detailing how the system would work, but we’re assuming that SMSs should contain the car’s plate number, the meter ID, and the duration.

The service should also give users the ability to remotely add more money into the meter, eliminating the hassle of having to walk to their cars in case the meter runs out.

So expect to start seeing instructions on how to use Smart Park on a meter near you very soon.
