Overnight Developers Competition

Update: Online registration for the OVERNIGHT competition is closed now. If you're attending the ArabNet Developer Days you can still participate in the competition. More information will be announced on the first day of the Developer Days.

 

WHAT IS IT

OVERNIGHT is a competition that aims to test the skills of developers and identify the best engineering talent in the region.  The competition will take place during the Developer Days, part of the ArabNet Digital Summit 2012, from March 27th, at 8PM til 8AM the following day.  Competitors are challenged to build a simple web application or a mobile app in just 12-hours!

To make things more exciting, we’re making the competition free and open to any developer, regardless of whether they are registered to attend the conference!  All you have to do is follow the steps below. 

HOW TO COMPETE

1- Submit your details on this signup form

     Note: Developer Days attendees are also required to register for this competition.
     However, their e-ticket is not required since they will have a conference badge

2- Check your inbox for a confirmation email

     You’ll receive another email that includes your e-ticket after your registration is approved

4- On the day of the competition, a list of projects will be revealed for competitors. Some of the speakers during the Developer Day will also be available for consultation during the competition

 

THE DETAILS

The OVERNIGHT  developers competition aspires to find the new generation of developers who are capable of rejuvenating the web and mobile development industry.

This year’s OVERNIGHT will be the first tournament-style competition for coders in the region, featuring five rounds, each testing a different set of skills which, when combined, form the artistry of a developer full of vigor.

 

COMPETITION ROUNDS

- Round 1 - Grilled by Time:

   The goal of this round is to identify developers who can finish projects in a limited time.

- Round 2 - As Witty as Hippo Wearing a Hat:

   The goal of this round is to identify developers who can turn challenges into opportunities.

- Round 3 - Brain Squasher:

   The goal of this round is to identify developers who can come up with robust solutions.

- Round 4 - API: Awesome Programming Instinct:

   The goal of this round is to identify developers who can do creative things with APIs.

- Round 5 - The Final Battle:

   The goal of this round is to identify the developer who has it all.

JUDGES & PRIZES

Valuable prizes will be awarded to the winner of the OVERNIGHT competition!  Judges for the OVERNIGHT competition will include some of the top speakers from the Developer Days.  Judges will be announced soon. 

Prizes are generously provided by INTIGRAL.

- 1st place: 2500 US Dollars

- 2nd place: 1500 US Dollars

- 3rd place and 4th place: 500 US Dollars
